Protecting Your Information Online

An 18-year-old high school student hacked into a school's grading network. He stole passwords, changed grades, and installed new programs to allow him to access the network from any computer. This affected all the students and teachers at the school. If I was a student at that school, his actions might have changed my grades, and made the teachers less likely to post grades online.

A 19-year-old hacked into instant mesages, and invited a budy to view a social networking site, when in reality he installed a virus. This caused identity theft, and a broken computer.

An employee of a kitchenware company, turns the company's computers into robots that make money for him, even if he doesn't work. He uses botnet to infect computers all over Europe. He does this so that he can have pop-up ads display on command. Another company pays him for each installation. However, he has a trial and is sent to prison for three years and six months. This not only hurt him, but his employer lost installations he was counting on, and the people whose computers were affected had to deal with the pop-up ads.

The Future

As of right now, I plan to use this blog for many different activities that interest me.

The main one would be soccer, hence the name. I look forward to sharing my thoughts on the English Premiere League, along with the development of MLS in America, and many other ideas.

Another interest that may come up is sports in general. It may be college football, the NFL, NHL, or MLB, most likely whatever is in season.

An hobby that is in my future not only for this blog, but also for my life is learning more about medicine. I am always interested in the new developments for treating cancer, autism, or personally any autonomic nervous system disorders.

Last, but definately not least is my interest in astronomy. I love to find out about NASA's plans for going to the moon, the new space shuttle, and possibly going to Mars!!

Exploring Google

In a new class, called Online Experience A, I have been learning about new websites and furthering my knowledge on sites I already have experience with.

Delicious is a site I found out about, that helps students and adults alike to organize their bookmarks. The great part about Delicious is that by having an account, a user can access his/her bookmarks anywhere they have internet access.

I have also learned more about Google. The people working at that company are always working to make the search engine better. Currently they are working with Stanford University to make many of the worlds greatest books available online. The Google homepage is also always making adjustments. Just last week, the company introduced a new feature that predicts what the user will type and displays the options for quicker searching!
